Strawberry and asparagus

We would never have enough of the very first fruit of the spring, simply, we find it irresistible! Many of us must have the same feelings about it, though, therefore, every day between 14 and 17 p.m. we will welcome our guests with fresh strawberry buffet in the neighbourhood of the Lobby Bar.

If you wish to taste its flavours in a liquid form, our barmen will help you, who are busy preparing for the strawberry season ahead of them. Besides its perfect taste, there are many reasons for which we can love strawberry! What are these?

The berries are non-fat and low in calories, rich in vitamin C, potassium, folic acid, fiber, and vitamin B6. Over history the strawberries have been used in medicines. They have been used for sunburn, discolored teeth, digestion, and gout. As far back as the 13th century,the Strawberry was used as an anaphrodisiac. Strawberries were served at medieval state events, they symbolized prosperity, peace, and perfection.

Strawberries boast more vitamin C than any other berry; half a cup provides 70 percent of the recommended daily allotment. They also contain ellagic acid, which research suggests may help to prevent some types of cancer.
When eaten in large quantities, the strawberry's are known to act as a mild laxative - they cleanse the blood and also help with cleansing the liver and spleen in much the same way. Both the juice of the Strawberry and the Dried Roots can be used to clean the teeth. When using the Berry, rub on teeth and leave on as long as possible(10 min.) in order to remove tartar. Then rince your mouth with water. Rinse the mouth with strawberry juice to strengthen and heal the gums too.

Due to these many kinds of healthy delicacies becoming available in spring, we have to express that we simply love these months! Life is beginning to return to the gardens, this is the way how the menu of our hotel becomes greener and greener.

The asparagus weeks being a success last year are also in he schedule this year by our chef, Attila Borda, therefore in the following days the frying, grilling and cooking of delicacies made of fresh asparagus are started. According to Mr Borda, our swing will last until the end of its season, that is, until July. If someone has not read our briefing on the ”characteristics” of the asparagus, he/she must read the following lines. Why do we admire this vegetable so much?

This vegetable is a very good detoxifying one, and it grows from April till May, June. Only the young shoots of asparagus are eaten. The shoots are prepared and served in a number of ways around the world.

Asparagus is low in calories, contains no cholesterol and is very low in sodium. It is also a good source of vitamin B6, calcium, magnesium and zinc, and a very good source of dietary fiber, protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, thiamin, riboflavin, rutin, niacin, folic acid, iron, phosphorus, potassium, copper, manganese and selenium. The amino acid asparagine gets its name from asparagus, the asparagus plant being rich in this compound. It helps to detoxify the body and has a diuretic effect and helps to lose nephroliths.
